Ask the Manual is designed to allow you to search and interact with PDF manuals while keeping the contents of those manuals on your device.
Manuals and search content
PDF manuals imported into Ask the Manual are processed locally on your device. Ask the Manual does not upload the contents of your manuals to our servers.
Search queries, manual titles, filenames, extracted manual text, search results and page content are not transmitted to Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics by Ask the Manual.
Analytics
Ask the Manual uses Google Firebase Analytics to help us understand how the app is used and improve its functionality.
Firebase Analytics may collect technical and usage information such as app interactions, app-instance identifiers, device and operating-system information, approximate geographic information and information associated with in-app purchases.
The analytics events specifically implemented by Ask the Manual are designed not to include the contents of your manuals, filenames, manual titles, search queries, search results or extracted text.
Crash reporting
Ask the Manual uses Google Firebase Crashlytics to identify crashes, application errors and stability problems. Crashlytics may collect diagnostic information including crash stack traces, relevant application state, app version, device model and operating-system information, installation identifiers and other technical information necessary to diagnose application failures.
Purchases
Purchases of Ask the Manual Premium or Professional are processed through Google Play. Ask the Manual does not directly collect or store your payment card or banking details.
Your information and how it is shared
Ask the Manual does not collect the contents of your manuals, your search queries, filenames, manual titles, extracted text, search results, or other personal content you provide to the app. This information remains on your device and is not transmitted to Ask the Manual.
Ask the Manual does not sell your personal information or use your manual or search content for advertising, profiling or marketing.
Limited technical, analytics and diagnostic information is processed using Google Firebase services as described above solely to understand app usage, improve functionality and diagnose crashes and reliability issues. Purchase transactions are processed by Google Play.
Data security
Manual content is processed and stored locally on your device. Information transmitted to Firebase or Google Play is transmitted using security mechanisms provided by those services.
Data retention and deletion
Your imported manuals, extracted manual text, search data and related manual information are stored locally on your device. You can delete an imported manual and its associated data from within Ask the Manual at any time.
Removing Ask the Manual from your device will also remove locally stored app data, subject to your device's operating system and backup settings.
Ask the Manual does not maintain user accounts or store copies of your manuals or search content on its own servers.
Limited analytics and diagnostic information processed by Google Firebase is retained and managed in accordance with the applicable Google Firebase data-retention practices.
Children
Ask the Manual is not specifically directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through its own account or registration system.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if Ask the Manual's functionality or data practices change. The latest version will be made available through the privacy-policy location listed on Google Play and from within the app.
